Though the holidays are over, there are still plenty of events, celebrations, and activities taking place around Atlanta this January and February. I’ve listed a few below, but I would love to hear from you if there are any winter traditions that I may be missing.
Ice Skating: You have a few more weeks to enjoy Atlanta’s seasonal ice rinks. The Rink at Park Tavern and Skate the Station are both open until MLK Day, while Avalon on Ice remains open until January 26th,
Snow Mountain: The only guaranteed place to enjoy snow this year! Stone Mountain’s Snow Mountain offers play areas for all ages and boasts a 400 ft. tubing hill. Open most weekends until February 23rd, this winter-fun park is a must for local residents.
Atlanta Winter Wine Festival: This year’s festival takes place at City Winery and is divided into two separate sessions (12 pm – 4 pm and 6 pm – 10 pm). Guests can sample over 50 different wines, beers, and ciders while listening to live music both upstairs and downstairs.
Model Train Show: The 58th Annual Atlanta Model Train Show will take place at Duluth’s Infinite Energy Center on Saturday, January 18th. Six large model layouts will be available for viewing, plus over 300 tables of sale items from respected model dealers.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration: A proud Atlanta tradition, the Annual Commemorative Service held at Ebenezer Baptist Church will take place on Monday, January 20th. The Atlanta History Center and the Margaret Mitchell House will offer free entry on January 20th, as well as special programs honoring the holiday. Morehouse College will be holding a series of events to commemorate Dr. King from January 18th-31st. And lastly, the Children’s Museum of Atlanta will incorporate Dr. King into their lessons and presentations on Monday, January 20th.
Free National Park Entry: Also in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., all national parks are offering free entry on Monday, January 20th.
Callanwolde Artist Market: Over 80 artists will display their work throughout the Callanwolde mansion over the course of three days. There is a $5 admission fee for Saturday, February 8th and Sunday, February 9th, with a special $10 VIP preview on Friday, February 7th.
Atlanta Winter Beer Festival: With over 150 featured beers, live music, food trucks, and heated tents, you won’t even notice that this event is being held in the cold of winter! Taking place at Atlantic Station on Saturday, February 1st, tickets can be purchased in advance online.
Atlanta Jewish Film Festival: The 2020 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival will take place February 10th through February 27th. Learn more about this year’s films, ticket pricing, and theater locations on the official AJFF website.
North Atlanta Home Show: Taking place at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth from February 7th – 9th, this popular home show will showcase hundreds of home improvement products, companies and services, as well as host seminars related to home and yard maintenance.
Monster Jam and Supercross: Both Monster Jam and Supercross will make appearances at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium this February. Monster Jam will be in town on February 22nd and 23rd, while Supercross will be held on February 29th.
