It’s almost time! Clocks officially turn back 1 hour on Sunday, November 4th at 2 a.m. Following the hustle and bustle of Halloween, it’s an event that is easily overlooked – so mark your calendars now and get ready for the end of Daylight Saving Time.
Though the fall time change is usually favored (who doesn’t want an extra hour of sleep?!), the twice-a-year event of changing our clocks often feels like an outdated concept. Originally implemented to preserve coal energy during World War I, there are a few other ‘benefits’ that have kept the practice in effect today. National Geographic recently published an article covering the topic, and it’s worth a read if you want to learn more about the mindset behind the almost 100 year practice.
Whether you’re looking forward to gaining an hour, or dreading having to adjust your body to a new routine, I hope you make the most of the extra weekend hour!
